Android device manager has 4 main features that you can use which includes:

If you ever lost your Android phone, Head straight to https://www.google.com/androihd/devicemanager or copy and paste the URL in any web browser using your computer for accurate tracking. You can also download the Apk file from Playstore. You need to provide the Google account that is associated with the lost phone in order to allow Android device manager to track your phone and you need to accept the terms and conditions and then then 4 main features above will prompt on your screen.
Choose the option you want to make use of. Below is how the 4 features will work.

1. HOW TO DISPLAY A MAP OF THE LAST KNOWN LOCATION AROUND 800 METRES

When you click on the first option, Android device manager map will show you the last known location of the lost phone using Google Maps with an accuracy of 800 metres.

2. HOW TO MAKE YOUR ANDROID PHONE RING EVEN IF IT IS IN SILENT OR VIBRATION MODE

With Android device manager, you can make your stolen phone ring continuously for about 5 minutes unless you find the phone and stop it by pressing the power button. To use this feature, click on the Ring icon and a message will appear notifying you that your phone will now ring at the highest volume level regardless whether the phone is in silent or vibration mode. Then click on the ring button within the window and your phone will start to ring. This feature is great when you lost your phone in a gathering or somewhere in your house.

3. HOW TO LOCK THE SCREEN OF THE MISSING PHONE REMOTELY

If you haven't find your phone after using the 2 features above then you need to secure your phone. Click on the "Lock" icon and a new window will appear and will ask you for the following fields:
Password
A message
An alternative contact telephone number.
By providing this information, you are not only securing your phone but if in any situation a person found it and want to return it they will know who to call to arrange for its safe return.

4. HOW TO ERASE ALL THE CONTENTS OF THE MISSING PHONE

If you still haven't find your find and you are afraid that somebody will tamper with your personal data, then you have no option than to reset the phone to the factory settings that were on the phone when you first received it. If you aren't going to get your phone back at least you can protect your personal data.
To erase the contents of the missing phone, click on the "Erase" icon and a message will appear telling you that the phone will be reset to factory settings, press the continue button and your phone will be reset to factory settings as in a new phone.
